Up for sale is a super knife friendly suita. It's on the softer side and produces beautiful, contrasting Kasumi very easily.
The stone is full 40 size and adorned with renge and karasu on a blue base. It really reminds me of an Uchigumori but has slightly different sharpening feel. The feel is slightly elastic like a quality Nakayama Suita but much softer. It self slurries and cuts fast right off the bat and has a firm enough base to allow allow some nice slurry breakdown if worked with light pressure.
The karasu can be seen from the sides of the stone and will be even more pronounced with subsequent use/lapping.
Polishing results yielded a very high contrasting Kasumi with dark jigane and bright sub-mirror hagane. As mentioned, the finish can be brightened up overall with worked mud and hydroplaning pressure as you go.
The only flaw on the stone is a line that has been dug by the wholesaler in the upper left hand corner and doesn't scratch in the current state it's in. It will however need to be addressed when the stone has been lapped/used down to the level of where the line is even with the stone surface again. Luckily the line is far enough in the corner that it won't affect use and doesn't de-value the stone significantly, however the price will be reflective of the line.
All in all, a perfect knife polishing stone that you don't see too many of in a nice user friendly size!
If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a holler!
