Man being in Hawaii probably helped with the time zone thing...I stayed up till 4am here in central with no luck. Glad someone on here got one at least.
I mean they dropped only a few hours past his Nine Honesuki drop. If I remember correctly the Nine drop was like 9 am EST?

I got lucky and managed to pick up this “plain” Gyuto from Aaron Wilburn. Approximately 220mm long from 52100 steel and featuring Wilburn’s immaculate craftsmanship. A few more pics …

I have long been looking for a knife from Wilburn that could spend some time as a daily user in my kitchen. The same knife would also be eligible to participate in my upcoming Battle of the Giants great potato master smith event. I previously picked up a Wilburn for this purpose … a Damascus masterpiece, which I was having problems with the idea of making a daily user. Problem solved … I think. Here are a couple of pics of the two Wilburns together.

… and a pic of the two Wilburns hanging out together on my magnetic knife rack from Will Newham.

I love it. I also have a 170mm sheffcut Honyaki from him. He’s one of my favorite makers. A pleasure to deal with, affordable, and a very quality product. I have 2 more customs I plan on getting from him in the near future.
I got to borrow a northside a few months back and immediately put my name down for a custom. I was very impressed how it clicked with me. Lucas is on the come up for sure

Cladding WWII Japanese ship anchor chain

The bevel looks really good and the geometry is very different from anything I’ve ever seen

I’m curious if I might be able to go straight to natural stones with this one

Yamashin 175mm (actually about 172) White #1 Bunka, a heavier, ‘cleaverish‘ knife almost twice as thick as the R2 Shibatas above the heel. Should be good for heavier work, and for under $100 who can complain? It needs some TLC as most cheap knives do, but no problem, just a nice afternoon job. It’s fairly thick down to the grind, which is fine for heavier work.

My wife was on holiday in Japan so I begged her to do some shopping in Tokyo and Sakai for me. TF Denka 210 gyuto,Takada no Hamono 90mm petty, and some wasabi rhizomes for a nice treat!
