The 60/90 is probably the one you want to use for a course, but really just lapping it with some SiC if it's starting to slow down should reveal fresh abrasive on the stone and that's all you're really going for with it. The 120/220 is the more versatile size to have, IME.

I'm thinking about taking the dive into the world of straight razors, so I thought it would be fun to make my own strops because I'm situated in belgium and a lot of the brands I read about are US-made. Went to the store to buy some horseleather and some canvas and this is the end result. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Now all I need is a straight razor...

If someone has recommendations on Brands and/or specific razors in Europe, feel free to share because I have no idea where to start.

Sure there are plenty of knowledgeable people here with better suggestions than this:

Got this King Neo 800 today. ST-2 version with the built in stand.

Will probably be a catch and release as I usually prefer very hard stones, but I have still really been meaning to try this one out for a while as it has great reviews regarding feedback and cutting performance. I believe this is the finer and slightly softer cousin to the King Deluxe 300, which is great.

King 300 is a hidden gem!

I heard that King Neo 800 is mix of AlOx and Silicon Carbide. Just curious, how to remove that plastic base?

Yeah I've heard it's a green SiC with magnesia bonding like a (Naniwa pro/chosera or Shapton). Either way great medium stone.

Someone told me they were able to remove thiers with just a scraper. They just wedged it in and it came apart. In the past I've removed a Chosera stone with a heat gun and a hacksaw. Cut the ends off so I could get the scraper in, then heat the glue to weaken it.

Maybe this one has a weaker adhesive, as I've heard someone else also say they were just able to pop thiers right off.

For now I'm keeping the base on. I usually take them off, but this base is actually alot nicer in both looks and feel too the nasty brown plastic Chosera base.

Do you have Naniwa Chosera/Pro 800? if so, how do you compare the cutting speed and the edge scratch pattern sharpening result with King Neo 800?

If the King Neo 800 can be used to create a new bevel on hard steel blade, it could be the only sharpening stone needed for kitchen knives.

I've got one on the way, and I will compare them briefly. I have heard the neo 800 recommended as a one and done sharpening stone before. Ive also heard that it can also cut carbide rich steels without issues.

I'm tempted to buy King Neo 800 ST-3, Grey Brick of Joy!

Exactly the same stone I believe, just different size. It's 80mm wide and 70mm tall, so if you place it on its side it's actually as wide as a Chosera/Shapton glass, while being 80mm tall!

Definitely should last a very long time, and comes without the base. On the downside it becomes less portable if that's important to you.

I recently got one of these (ST-2) and removed the base very easily by just sliding a putty knife under the edge. The stone popped right off the base with no effort like it was just waiting to happen. Was left with a glue mark but I don't really care since I'll just call it the bottom and carry on.

King neo is on the list..
But so much stones are.

Today i recieved a forum favorite, the shapton pro 2000 (on sale for 38usd)

A quick pass on atoma 140 and rolling, this brick works fast, hard, leaves a really defined but bity edge.

I understand why all of you like this stone so much.
Pair it with a naniwa pro 400 and you've got a nasty combo.
