I have received a new dark slate from an auction and it is very different to the other dark slate I have.

The new one is soft and muddy with a very consistent scratch pattern and nice kasumi finish.

My old slate is a lot harder, takes more time to bring a slurry up, and doesn't have the contrast on the kasumi

I'm wondering what flavor stone I have got?

I'm wondering what flavor stone I have got?

If you snap a coupla pics of the stone fully lapped, wet and dry, as well the saw marks - I might be able to help. Though id-ing slate whetstones is pretty difficult from pics in general I'm afraid.
