Heel height: 54mm
Edge length: 169mm
Weight: 147g
Width at neck: 4mm
Walnut and black pakka handle
The project knife I learnt to practice thinning and polishing on, taken through a full progression from 300 grit up to Narutaki suita.
I wasn’t a huge fan of this when new. It was quite wedgey and I didn’t love the retention on the steel. It now performs much better and is nail flexing thin along the whole edge.
The soft iron cladding is quite temperamental with my narutaki, and so a visible but small scratch pattern is currently visible along the knife - you can use as is or refine further with a fine finisher if you are into polishing. The core steel has a creamy pearlescent finish currently with some visible scratches remaining.
Whilst this knife now performs much better than it did, don’t expect flawless aesthetics if you are a perfectionist!
I’m still building my Jnat collection otherwise I would do further refinement myself - it won’t be that taxing to do as I’ve put the hard yards in already.
Asking £180 to reflect the time invested.
