I've been doing this for about 8 years. every end of year, I think about my favorite HUMBLE piece of kitchen "Stuff". past year MVPs have been wooden spoons and baking sheets. . (it is a riff on Saveur magazines- top 100 list they do annually)
I just tore my kitchen apart this morning. I am shocked. I think I am down to my last TWO remaining kitchen wiping towels. I dont even know what they are. my MIL brings me a few every time she visits. and the pandemic created a very personal supply chain problem for the last 3 years. when my MIL gave me a few, I scoffed at them. they are some weird plastic material. brand new, they are ridiculous day-glo colors. washed a few times they get soft and super absorbent. they are kinda amazing. they are totally stain proof. wipe up beet juice and the colors run off with water. the most stubborn stains come off with a tiny spritz of diluted bleach water.
to be honest, in my house. I am Cinderella. I do most of the cleaning and I have gotten really attached to this lowly kitchen wiper. nothing wipes down a kitchen counter like this. I am consciously trying to minimize my use of single-use paper towels and these towels have really been the catalyst. that pandemic paper towel shortage really sealed the deal for me. I really embraced these goofy towels.
my in-laws are visiting again this March!! you know it! I have asked for some more of these towels. she calls them "do-bo". I think it simply means wipe-cloth. I could have sworn I have a few brand new unopened packages left but I can't find them. BOO!!!
