Withdrawn Tanaka Kyuzo Blue #1 Kuro-Uchi Gyuto 240mm Extra Height

This was a recent pickup and has been used to cut three bell peppers and one onion. Edge from the box was terrible so currently has my edge finished on Chosera 2k. Lucked out with a blonde Buffalo ferrule as they’re usually black. Cedar handle smells incredible.The tip on this specific knife is amazingly thin, will fly through everything.

Height at the heel is 55mm so 5mm taller than standard height. Overall very lovely — selling to fund other knives and I have a preference for very heavy/thick knives nowadays.

More on the Tall and Skinny side. First time I encountered this style and personally prefer it (L glove hands). Something like my Tinker Tank has a much wider/thicker handle by comparison.

Never tried a k tip myself but interesting you’re having a little extra height too. Honestly, I might just keep this. Will give it a couple more days and just start using/enjoying it.

The k tip extra height is gonna be my next knife. I held one at carbon knife co back in April and haven’t stopped thinking about it since…. Y Tanaka’s blue 1 is just about a perfect steel and these are finished so nicely it’s absurd. I am kinda shocked this is still up. Masterful piece. And this handle…. Unreal combo that I just don’t have funds for… ughhh

The handle was a nice surprise, wood smells fantastic and is a great combo with the blonde horn which was black in pictures when I bought. Yes, Tanaka’s HT is excellent and this has a certain metal ring even when cutting paper which I’ve found on high Rockwell knives. I think you’re only convincing me more to keep it haha. I’ll give it till Friday and then take it down

Trying to measure along the curve, I get 237mm. But in a straight line heel to tip is about 231mm
