Special knife up for sale here, for those who like big blades. This is 6 or 7 years old, I am original owner. I put in a custom order with TF for this blade and waited a long time to receive it. Thankfully, Gaku was there and helped make it a reality via TF after some time in question. It is a huge knife - someone who does a lot of prep or wants a big, big WH will love it. It's shockingly fun to use and the combination of steel and size mean it falls through food and bites well. Bevels are flattened on stones by Forty Knives/Andrew and it's got a kasumi finish on it. Fully rounded and polished spine and choil. Custom western Rosewood handle by Cody Paul, tapered tang, and just really a nice overall F&F for a Denka. It's got special kanji on it as well, which I asked TF to engrave for me. I didn't give him specifics for what to write, but I believe it has to do with health, nutrition, or similar. Someone can verify the kanji via photos if desired. There are only 2 Denka's with this Kanji. My 240mm and this 280mm. This is also really thick at the spine and has a beautiful grind on it - see photos and specs below:
  • Spine: 5.1mm
  • Mid: 3.3mm
  • 20mm before tip: 2.1mm
  • 60mm heel
  • 280mm blade length
  • 422 grams
  • Forward balance, at handle side of kanji

I don't believe there are many of this sized Denka's out there. I've not seen any myself. With the big blade, the handle, bevels/flattening, spine/choil, etc. done I have around $1,450 into it, maybe a bit more with shipping and such. Now asking $1200. $1,450 CONUS, $1,500 Int'l. Happy to ship worldwide and as always, ping me with questions.

Oh yeah, the why: I bought an expensive watch and just moving some $ around. Trying to live the "don't get more attached to something

@EShin can you read this middle kanji? I understand the first and the third. The middle one doesn’t make sense to me and it bothers me a lot…
Yeah it’s 滋栄味 (Jieimi) which isn’t really a word or phrase but if you take the meanings of the single characters (luxuriant, prosperity and taste) it can be said that it is a kind of an enhancement of 滋味(Jimi) which means tastefulness or exquisiteness. By the way it’s common to use regular characters and not historical ones so all good.

Thanks man. Totally agree with this. I had ChatGPT analyze it. It got everything wrong lol

May I ask why there is a white line along the Shinogi line?
As usual, KKF members are totally on top if it. It's the marks from the polishing of the bevels. As you'll see on most Denkas, even ones from the factory ground on a belt/grinding wheel, there will be some marks just above the shinogi line. This is in large part due to the hammer forged nature of the blade, and thus natural high/low spots where holding at a precise angle hits just above the end of the shinogi. Hope that makes sense and/or helps.

Here is a 310mm Denka if only size matters.
Unknown state though and surely not finetuned:
310mm denka
Dont like that shop, usually over expensive (well, its in switzerland) but they have a 270 wa and 305mn wa denka too.
Well that one is $1,450 usd and doesn’t have nearly as nice a handle and probably hasn’t been thinned and polished. Good confirmation that $1,250 is a steal for this knife.
