Teruyasu Fujiwara Kiridashi
Width: 28mm
Handle to tip length: 108mm
Spine at heel: 4mm
Steel: white 1 stainless clad
Model: undernoted, but price and steel and feel in use suggests Maboroshi
Original cost: 28,000 yen
Selling for: $130
Notes: cover fit becomes looser depending on humidity. Right now during the heat, it's looser, but it may or may not get tighter again. Fit between the two wood halves has a slight gap.
Marks on cover from me messing around using the Kiridashi to shave the wood
Bevel flattened except for near the heel, which is thicker still.
Came with the tf not-an-ura, which has high and low spots, and a back bevel that I have reduced closer to flat.
Swarf stains on handle and cover (thought I would keep it indefinitely, so had thought years ago it didn't matter much)
Why no four kanji? Probably no room for it on the blade.
Favorite tf white 1 HT I've handled from about 7 stock maboroshi I've sharpened. Gets slightly keener than the others and sharpens a little more smoothly on the soft steel. How much better? Only slightly, but I noticed it.
