my wife came home with a dog maybe 7 years ago. i said no, but she did the Jedi Mind Trick on me and we kept him. if i am being honest, i kinda pouted about it like a Dick for awhile. the dog, "HANK" took a long time to warm up to me anyways, he immediately magnetized himself to my wife. they have a strange almost gravitational pull to each other. for example: camping - Hank will go with my wife everywhere and even sit outside the out-house guarding her. i have to pee, i am on my own and he stays with my wife at camp. hahahah. i rarely hear Hank bark. but if she is home alone, he barks at everyone.

we have really gotten to know each other and i love the dog. he hangs with me now quite often, but still takes his job of keeping an eye on my wife seriously. he is happiest if we are together. if we are apart, he will always face in her direction. funnest smartest dog of my life. he has learned every dumb trick we tried to teach him.

he was abused in his youth, and got beaten by other dogs..so he has baggage. he cant really be with other dogs. going to a beer pub with him isnt a thing. he is great with humans. i wish i could take him fishing but he is afraid of sticks. so my fishing rods petrify him. our trainer thinks he was hit with sticks. i sleep on the living room floor with him fourth of July, because fireworks. yup. we have bonded.

there is something truly special about a boy and his dog. we just took him to the vet a few days ago. we medicate him prior so he wont freak the heck out. luckily the vet was a tiny asian lady and he was better, but the meds helped. i took time off of work to hang with him while he was high as a kite. i told my boss, my family had a doc appointment. i wasnt lying. :D

hanks sleeping off the hangover. :(

Glad to see you are both happy.

Definitely fair play to take time off, they are family. Thier lifespan is tragically short relative to ours so the time is even more precious. Make the most of it.

We already had 4 cats and I was dead against getting a dog….however she is a little bit of a daddy’s girl xx
