So there's plenty of praise for the Nano Hone 200 and I just received mine.

But what about the higher grits?

I've read @SolidSnake03's excellent feedback on the line and I know @ethompson has some experience. Anyone else? Or either of those gentleman have additional thoughts?

My workhorse stones are Shapton Glass and I'm typically using the 500 and 2k more than anything.

Phil's (HB) sale and the heft of this new stone has my mouse finger twitching. :)

I used the 400, 1k and 6k before with an old formulation. So my experience might be slightly different than what they are now.

They reminded me of a cross between Shapton Glass (not just the backing idea) and Naniwa Super Stones.

A little bit of that fast cutting of the Glass stones, that kind of rubbery/frozen butter feeling of the Super Stones.

With light pressure, you can get the 1k+ stones to load up and polish/burnish. Increase the pressure and it'll release some grit and refresh the surface.

Not enough difference over the SG's to mess with beyond just messing with them?

In my opinion, just as good. Not better or worse, except for the "making things a little shinier" aspect.

If you can get a good deal on them, sure, why not. But if you have Shapton stones already, pass. Or buy then BST.

I've picked up the 100, 200, 400 and 1000 Nanohones from Tokushu. The 100 and 200 have replaced the SG in those ranges - definitely prefer. I like the 400 but I really, really like the SG500. (Wish we could choose between 2 good candidates all the time. ) I'll be playing with these some more. So far liking the 1000 quite a bit.

Plan to add higher grits in future - just cause.

Thanks fellas. Like both of you I'm a huge fan of the SG500. I think I'll play with this 200 for a while and see if the bug hits me again down the road.
