I'm gonna keep it entirely honest - I have far too many tools. Spoons, Tweezers, Offset Spatulas... I'm practically drowning in them. I am also about to make a move to a much smaller kitchen, one that will likely not have space for a 1/2 tray for me to keep my things on, or a bain to go on a countertop. So... anyone have experience with holding a bunch of tools on you during service in a way where if you need to bend over, everything won't come tumbling out?

Restrictions are that Chef Coats and Aprons are worn, so I need to stay within uniform. I was thinking something along the lines of a hairdresser waist bag but I feel like that's just a recipe for dropping everything when I reach into a lowboy.

Also, obviously the kit is going to be downsized to "the essentials"... i just happen to have a decent amount of essentials

i'm not a kitchen pro, but as a once regularly and today occasionally working musician i'd say: downsize, then downsize again.

Downsizing again is obviously the first step, this is moreso of a pivot to finding a solution to keeping spoons on me that doesn't involve stuffing them in between my apron and coat, or putting them in a pocket where they'll fall out if i bend over

How did other people work the station? Do you realistically use each one every service? Do you really need spoons strapped on you? I say work a few services and see which ones you actually need/use and put the rest away.

I only have a pen, sharpie, and small tweezer on me during service. I have space for a Bain so currently I have 2 spoons, rubber spat, an offset, bread knife and longer tweezers in it.
I have a 210 mm petty out and scissors tucked in a corner.
The rest of my things I might need are tucked away in the lowboy or in my toolbox. I can't imagine a station so small/cramped that there's no space for a small Bain🤔

I’ve been in your shoes before. I’ve learned to consolidate my Bain to 3 spoons an offset and a pair of tweezers. Wear my plating tweezers and cake tester on my apron. That said I do 60% of my job with an 8 inch strait spat that I keep around my bain in a tight spot.
