Incredibly hard to post this up for sale as it's a favorite of mine. Doing it for two reasons, first as usual, could use some cash. However, I would normally sell other knives first, but I do have another togashi blue 1 honyaki, it's unfinished now, but a knifemaker is finishing it up for me. Originally wasn't sure which I was going to keep, but decided it would be rude of me to have the knifemaker go through that work and then just sell it. So this is the blue 1 that has got to go.
Probably the best modern honyaki combo imo. Togashi blue 1+tosa grinding, in the knives and stones custom profile. I think banding to match an ashi, but you get togashi blue 1, my recent blue 1 togashi I had HRC tested at 66+
245x53.5mm
Exhibition grade Tasmanian Blackwood Saya by Sean Porter, and handle by @JoBone
This is a full mirror polish with cycles of etching and stone powder used to bring out the banding. As seen in the video, there is some patina on it, but the hamon and banding still show through strongly.
Condition is used but good. It's a mirror polished honyaki so there are some light scratches and swirls, but I can't really pick anything out with the banding and patina. Been through a full progression once on my stones, and touched up 2-3 times on high grit jnats.
Asking is $2000 $1650. The woodwork alone is $600+, and with Togashi increasing his blue honyaki price exponentially, I feel like this is a fair ask. Only other gyuto I know in stock is from ikkyu at $1900+ with satin+bead blasted finish and no handle or saya of course. My loss is your gain.
