I recently picked up a new Toyama 240 Kasumi gyuto. It’s quite a bit lighter than I was expecting at 206g. I’m curious if they’re now being made thinner or if I just got an unusually light one. Anyone else get one recently and can share the weight? It’s a nice knife so far, I’m just debating whether I should try a heavier one. Thanks!

Picked up mine around 6 months ago and it's approximately 225g.

Definitely seems like recent batches are thinner. I think I've already commented to you about this elsewhere, but my Toyama is 240g and my thinner Watanabe is 220g. *SHRUG*

My 240 is a couple years old and is 250 g with a Dalman handle. I think it was 235 to 240 g with the stock handle. I also have a 270 that is over a year old that is 250g with the stock handle. The 270 is definitely thinner. Both are top performers.
