1) Toyama-San is apparently 80+ years old
2) maksim at JNS said in a recent email he is retiring soon and raising prices, meaning more expensive in the short term and unavailable after that
3) this blade is sold out at JNS, where the old/unraised price is $938, so presumably higher upon restock

Just sayin, get one at my price while you can…
 
I feel like I'm reading rumors of several top tier knife makers retiring. Sad because of the end of production but nice to know they won't just work themselves to the bitter end. Here is to hoping they trained some good proteges. Also, interesting handle, how do you like it?
