Ohira Uchigumori

$270, shipped to your door within CONUS.

Specs:
183*72*29mm, 990g

- Good sized uchi that gives a beautiful kasumi.
- About 95% of the surface has been flattened. The small unflattented portion is not problematic. It's very comfortable to sharpen on.
- Sealed with black glossy lacquer
- I purchased from Nutmeg, but not from a BST post I can link to.
- Works best with 10-15 min soak.
- Photos are below: (1) dry, (2) splash of water, (3) under side.

I would say it’s medium or less likely medium-hard. I only have a few other naturals to compare it to and I didn’t see any specifics on hardness running through messages when I bought it.

I give it a few back and forths with an atoma 400 to get things started. It seems to work well.

To give some shots if it in action, i used it this morning on a munetoshi petty (great knife by the way). I didn’t do any prior stones this morning, just straight to the uchi, although the knife had been recently polished on an Aizu.

Buying stones is a always a bit of a gamble in my experience so hopefully this takes some mystery away.
