I’ve updated my list to include some hard to come by knives. I realize this is a long shot, but as I’m growing and learning with this community I’m expanding my collection and wanting to try some additional great knife makers.

If any of yall are looking to pass along some of the makers below, please let me know. I may also have interesting knives to trade. Thanks!

Here’s my current list:
  • Kippington (225ish laserpony ideally)
  • Eddworks (210-230)
  • Jiro Yo (Gyuto ideally)
  • Lucid (his newer work)
  • Devin Thomas
  • Bidinger
  • Shi.Han (A2 or AEBL version)
  • Sigefusa (western handle)
  • Milan Gravier
  • Dalman (looking for a 210 stainless version)
  • Hopwood
  • Tobias Heldqvist (looking for a 210-220ish wrought clad version)
  • Takada no hamono (looking for a ginsan version ideally 210-220ish final edge length)

  • Bryan Raquin (210-220 burned oak)
  • Fredrik Spåre (looking for a 210-220ish stainless version)
  • Takada no hamono Suiboku B1 damascus
  • Kamon
  • Konosuke Fujiyama
  • Konosuke Fujiyama FM
  • Newham
  • Simon Maillet (220-230)
  • Haburn
  • Joel Black
  • Birgersson
  • Isasmedjan
  • Tetsujin metal flow

I’ve found my ideal knife to be a gyuto profile roughly 225ish in length so I’m primarily looking for this size, but certainly open to other sizes

Even if it’s crossed off feel free to send me an offer.

Edited to cross a few items off! And add Lucid based on a recommendation. I’d be curious to try out some blades in apex ultra steel as well
Quick affirmation for you… Lucid is a superb choice and completely underrated. I used my custom last night… after months of using other knives from more hyped makers … to see whether it stands up after that — it does. Mine is a little different from Travis’s standard - slightly higher and thinner bevels, more distal taper and thinner tip. I assure you, it competes favourably! Looks the part too. Brilliant patina on his wrought, highlighted by the silver nickle cloud at the clad line. Side note: his mono steel is superb too. His geometry is excellent (thicker spine at heel, great distal taper, nail flexing edge all the way along), has a nice flat profile as standard, for us push cutting purists, and great fit and finish. All done by hand hammer and fly press too - he is building his first power hammer now. It has soul! Something special is Travis’s heat treatment - I’ve experienced his sheffcut (mono) and wolfram special (wrought clad) and wow, the edge is superb despite being fine. Lasts forever, toothy, barely dulls and can be stropped back to ultra sharpness with ease.

Lucid was my first custom and western, and now, having collected more than my fair share of knives, I think they compare very well to the more hyped makers.

Very high praise! Thanks for the info, makes me want to try him out even more

Have been making faster headway than expected. Thanks KKF! Still looking for some some great ones
You’re at a huge advantage if you like 200-210mm knives. They’re produced in similar numbers to 240mm and are less popular. 240mm is a more competitive market and 270mm + is a less well-catered market.

Great news for me haha. But yes I’ve noticed the 240 range seems to be very popular. Not that I dislike 240 but maybe I just haven’t grown into them yet

I have some options to trade, let me know if you have offers

For trade:
- Simon Maillet
- Fredrik Spåre
- Isasmedjan
- Hunter Valley Forge
- Shi.Han
- Heldqvist
- Lucid
