Hello KKF,
I have not been finding the time and motivation to polish much lately so I'd like to move some stones I don't often use.

Left to right
Nakayama suita. 750
Tanaka Toishi Mikawa Chu Nagura. Sold
Nakayama Iromono 400
Natsuya. 350
Hakka 200 sold

Nakayama suita. Great finisher but requires skill. Very good contrast. i have pics with stamps. good sized stone.

Mikawa chu Nagura. Never really bonded w this stone so didn't use it much. Pretty fine, finisher to pre finisher. folks seem to like them and they sell for more than this.

Nakayama iromono: my eyes grabbed this one but it's pretty redundant for me. Another fine and hard finisher requiring finesse. fun and really pretty. high gloss bling.

Natsuya. Not sad if this stays but also a bit redundant as a course option. Maybe 1.5 to 2k ish.
Easy user.

I'm a bit beat up at the moment (4 broken ribs) so it's difficult for me to offer examples right now.

All priced at or less than what I paid.

Best

MATT

I don't think I'll ever forget that natsuya. One of the prettiest ones I've ever had

I am the original owner of the Nakayama iromono. And happy to share photos etc. He’s giving it away at that price as there was already a bit of goodwill in getting it into Matt’s hands.

I'm super interested in picking up my first jnat for finishing bevels on. I typically leave them at cerax 700 or king deluxe 800 as those seem to be my best balance between refined but leaving some contrast.

Would you recommend the natsuya or nakayama?

Hey man, they are two very different stones, Natsuya has a coarse finish and generally the first natural stone progression and Nakayama is generally the last one as they are very fine stones.
It sounds like you might need something like a shapton 2000 before moving onto something like a typical natsuya, that's polishing per say.
But if you're looking for edge sharpening only, finishing up on a Natsuya will leave you a very toothy edge and it's definitely more refine than a King 800 or cerax 700.

Hmm okay, thank you! I have lots of 1k+ synthetics but I typically use them more for edges than bevels as I've found anything after my 700/800 stones takes a very long time to get any kind of even, nice looking finish.

In that case, I'd say you'd have to start with something coarser. Either you get the even-looking finish off the synthetics before jumping to a Natsuya, or go coarser - say with an Amakusa before jumping over to a Natsuya.

It's quite likely that your 700/800 finishes weren't even and uniform, but the muddiness typical of your stones hides the imperfections in the finish. Going up the grit ladder and also onto harder stones will inevitably reveal any unevenness.

It's because you need to properly work up a progression of grits while erasing all the previous scratches. If you don't do that it will look messy

That iromono is absolutely stunning...I would probably jump on that if it was a softer one. GLWS!

with mud its less mirror, without mud it cuts faster and is more mirror. more pressure equals more mirror.

its 905g, 198x70x29, maybe 4 to 4.2 out of 5 hard (for knives) and pretty fine 8k ish? im not experienced enough to say more. its a nice stone, after using it today, ill be bummed to see it leave, i just dont sharpen and polish as much right now.

Hi. Is that suita still available? If so, can you post a picture of any knife finished on it?
