Hello!

To add to the Wakui heat already in BST today, I figured I’d add this beast to the mix.

Wakui Workhorse 240mm Gyuto from JNS

291g. 250x56mm. White 2, Iron Clad.
5mm at handle, 4.5mm at heel, 3.5 half way, 1.5 near tip.

Purchased a couple of weeks ago, used it for dinner for a week, and after a bit of back and forth with myself, I think it’s a bit too much knife for me! It cuts like a dream, so I’ll be grabbing a 210 in its stead, and maybe someone that goes to the gym more than me will enjoy this!

Happy to trade (+/- cash), though I’m not currently looking for anything in particular.

I normally don't try and enable on this forum since it's already bad enough 😂 but this is an exception. I love my Wakui WH and it's the knife for me that completely killed the desire to own a Kato WH. (IMO it hits most of the same boxes but at a far more accessible price point.) Hell, it's a knife that I considered (and to be frank I am still tempted) picking up another copy of.

I can't speak to the heat treat yet but it is authoritative on the board and mine did not have any low spots OOTB either. Two of my gripes for the current JNS price are 1) ho handle at the $500 price point is meh (not applicable here) and 2) I personally would've liked at least a powder finished kasumi for the price (although IMO no low spots IME > bead blast kasumi). (It certainly isn't criminal, however, as I've seen a knife at 2X this price point with a bead blast; no shade intended.) I do plan on swapping out the handle (as I've already stone-finished mine) but high, high recommendations for the Wakui WH.

(Someone please buy this so that I don't change my mind and pick up two of the same knife.)
