New knife day.
Could take an angle grinder to a Wharncliffe spyderco and you'd have a fantastic pocket nakiriDoes anyone make a sort of Nakiri version of a pocket knife? A lot of times people aren’t cutting; instead they’re prying the lids off cans of paint, or spudging things apart, or turning screws. So a flat-head tip could be more useful than a point.

This one has grown on me immensely in the time I've had it. Beefier grind than my Spydercos but a better cutter than Benchmade. Very smooth action, nice edge retention so far, and sits nice and deep in the pocket.Accidentally went through security at Heathrow with my Endela in my bag. Got a nice little talking to by the British police and they confiscated it, so I consoled myself with a ZT Hinderer 0562CF in 20CV. Haven't tried that steel before so was curious...it's a sturdy little thing, but sits slimmer in the pocket than you'd think from these chunky looking photos. Really not much different than my Spydies.

I'm keenly aware of the irony that I was just posting my rule against expensive folders like 24 hours ago but this was half off!
Kizer sheepdog is the first thing that comes to mind - https://www.bladehq.com/item--Kizer-Vanguard-Sheepdog-XL-C01C--98147Does anyone make a sort of Nakiri version of a pocket knife?

Probably not of the quality you are looking for, but...Does anyone make a sort of Nakiri version of a pocket knife? (Edit: Or takohiki I guess)
Do you want to open the can, or watch the blade pretzel while the lid moves not a millimeter? If you're using it to open paint cans or turn screws, why NOT a huusk?
I have found Swiss Army blade steel to be outstandingly mediocre.I mean it will def get chewed up in a second. Also why not use a swiss army knife, kinda the point, no?
sounds about rightI have found Swiss Army blade steel to be outstandingly mediocre.
Sheep foot or cleaver, tho I think sheepfoot is a lot more usefulDoes anyone make a sort of Nakiri version of a pocket knife? I got this Sencut during KnifeCenter sale with couple other beaters, surprisingly nice, the profile is much easier to free hand sharpening than leaf shaped or drop point blades. (Also their initial edge angle seems to be a lot better than other Chinese manufacturers, I have to spend quite some time to sharpen a Nitro V Reate to a 15 degree, this one is more close to spyderco on the factory)
sure, but the same knife also has a combination screwdriver/bottle opener, which works great on paint cansI have found Swiss Army blade steel to be outstandingly mediocre.
