Was looking for his site the other day and ebay but the both seemed to be closed?

Edit: was talking to a coworker about MM. He had ordered 3 knives back in November and just submitted a claim via paypal since he didn't hear or receive anything from MM. I know it takes a while for MM to ship things out or even rarely responds. Anybody knows what happen to him?

I think he moved his activities to buyee. If you search around you will find his user ID (it was me who mentioned it, but I do not recall it at the moment).

New site per email but does not seem populated yet. Used to be an interesting shop with small but valuable selection. Hope he revives it, I like to browse!

The current state of that website reminds me of the early days of the internet. Nostalgia!

Yeah his old shop was the same. All text links and bad and missing pictures. Need a leap of faith to order a knife from him but seems to have a good reputation in terms of the knives themselves, less so in terms of communication and response time. Website sometimes goes down.

Me, I'm patient, if it takes a few days to respond or couple weeks to deliver I don't get nervous.

Wish he we're a supporting vendor who could post here.

I haven’t bought anything there for something like 5 years and I got that email. I don’t recall anything about the experience. Must be going out to his whole customer list. Hope the guy is alright.

Wondering about this way of communicating. Got the same email. Kind of spam. Had two years ago an order. Stuff never arrived. Got money back from PayPal. This is not the way to restore confidence.

I wonder if it is because Hawaii is closer to Japan. Never had any issues with orders. Students & cooks ordered them too no problem. All the bad experiences here I can see why people would not order from MM.

When started using more plastic instead of horn on hañdles nashiji Tanaka's lost bang for the buck appeal.

But when was the last time you or anyone you know ordered from MM? It was only about a year ago that it became a problem.

He was out of stock Tanaka nashiji for a long time. When he restocked I bought a few to use as pass around. three students ordered nashiji 240mm & atoma plates that was 2018. I have ho wood horn handles knocked off other knives. Threw away stock handles & mounted better ones on nashiji tanakas. That's last time ordered from him.

In years passed a lot of tanaka's both G3 & vg10 have been sent to Hawaii from MM.
