Thanks brotha. Your right. The patina was forced.. The steel is Blue#2 I did a etch when I was sanding. Helps me to see the scratch pattern and any deep scratches that I may of missed and found a nice subtle alloy banding..(I think that is what it would be called) So I decided to do a forced patina/ etch on it once I was happy with the finish.

The Snakewood was a gift from a fella in Canada. It was a chunk that looked like a 1/4 of a branch section. I managed to make a "triangle block" by the time I got into clean solid wood. I think it worked well for this little handle and might do similar shape (on purpose) on future handles. Its sotra a modified D shape.

Again Thanks for checkin out the pics Ill be doing some proper photos of these 3 tomorrow.

Happy New Years to you all
Randy

Beautiful work as always!

The gloss on that snakewood is insane... is it just sanded to high grit then buffed or is there Tru oil or wax on there too?

Thanks man. Having a blast!!! again......

Yes. to all but True oil. and only lightly buffed with a clean wheel. Snakewood is always a challenge. and I learned the hard way on it a long time ago. Not to buff or if you do. Use a clean wheel. True oil is good for many woods.. I didnt get good results using it on snakewood.

Mosaic Damascus. Explosion pattern. Gyuto. Profile is loosely based off of of a DT gyuto I had opportunity to handle a few months back.

Handle is cross cut Ironwood burl. Beautiful stuff. I added a Mokume 3 color nickel brass and copper front cap. :happymug:

Thinking its gona be a awesome cutter!!!!

Thanks for looking and as always comments or critiques welcomed!
Blessings
Randy

Thank ya guys for the nice comments. These images dont begin to really show the beauty and figure of the woods. My Canon camera finally stopped working. So these were taken with a old smart phone. And well. Like any camera. There is a learning curve. I hope to be able to replace my Canon soon. Although the cell is fast and easy. The image quality and the ability to capture the colors and such are so much better on the EOS cameras

Anyways.

God Bless you and stay sharp my friends

Amazing Jr ... Randy - what do you all call it? "Star Splash" "Twirling Orion" ? It kills me every time I see patterns for the first time (or 100th) to think about, but not comprehend, the forethought, work & effort that goes into it ... also kinda plays on my own thoughts of 'inadequacies' ... LOL ...

Bravo ...

Jr just finished some awesome mosaic pattern damascus What ya think?
