Would a magnifying glass or jewelers loupe be helpful?

I'm a very visual learner. I wonder if some type of magnifier would be helpful when sharpening for inspecting my progress?

Does anyone use any type of magnifying glass or jewelers loupe to inspect their work?

If so can you recommend a good model or brand?
