This is surprisingly rad definitely worth the 10 minute watch.

I'm confused by two things:

1) Why did he re-roll the foil at the beginning? Maybe the original box had a non-removable tube? Something to do with shiny vs matte side?
2) At 4:45, how did he get the blank to split in half? I understand that removing the cardboard tube and flattening the cylinder would essentially create two sides/halves. I guess that is the only area where the foil layers hadn't been tightly rolled?

He has the perseverance of a saint!

I was curious about those two details as well. Agreed on the perseverance. Once I realized about half way through the vid that he was going the no power tools route, I realized how long it’d been since I’d actually sawed something by hand...

Anything in there will already be known to most people here, but I thought it was notable for being one of the few introductions to chef knives that didn't have me cringing non-stop. In fact when it popped into my feed I just looked at it to have a laugh, but it's actually one of the most solid introductions to all the differences between different knife types that I've seen on the tube.

Oh my,I gave up watching that video about 6 minutes in. He was an accident waiting to happen.I thought he was going to chop his fingers off at any given time.

Took a few viewings but got through the video and I think its very well done. Sure I have my own opinions about a few things but he covered a lot of technical knife aspects in a non-jargon way. He was very careful not to burry the viewer in a language and vernacular foreign to them. The video also confirmed some of my knife intuitions too. I'm giving it a thumbs up.

That's not a cleaver. That's a metal door with an edge on it...

Met Benjamin in cologne at a meet recently and asked him for some pointers concerning polishing this cleaver. He went ahead and offered to polish it for free. Super nice guy.

Great vid. Who’s the DJ btw? I recognize some Gangstarr samples and it kinda sounds like Premier’s style of cuts(no pun intended). Nice to hear some real old school DJ’ing for a change.

Some good technique and a Maumasi...
