Dear forum members,

Does anybody have experience with Zakuri AS knives? How good they are?

Years ago Zakuri were among knives which CKTG sells at that time.

Thanks.

I just got the 150mm petty/funyaki and its not bad. The smiting seems nice and the form is very much forged in. However the edge wasn't the absolute straightest and the belt sharpening wasn't to my liking. So I spent some time flattening the bevel, going for kasumi finish etc.

If you just wanted a great edge with some decent steel it seems good. If nothing else I would use some treatment on the handle (I used Danish oil) as it comes quite dry and a few quick strokes of the edge with your preffered fine stone.

I will add some pics later

I have had my couple for a few years (2020-2021ish). New to CS knives, so i didn't focus on thinning them (previously my primary sharpening was straight razors and for planer tools working on bamboo). Mistake on my end? 100%.

What i can state is one knife has a primary bevel at 50/50, one is at a 30/70 (left edge the steeper angle). Soft fish my sujihiki does steer. And i just for the first time tried thinning/leveling the bevel. And it does seem to have high/low spots. And a lot of them. User error? Could be. I didn't focus on finish for now, but it sounds like a rustic maker.

All this said, i like them, but i would also not call them precision tools. Expensive for intro knives and maybe a touch of a chore, but honestly, I'm not sad about my first foray into carbon steel.
