Zakuri D handle question.

Hi guys,

I just acquired couple zakuri knives, apparently they came with d handle for right handed. I am thinking of knocking them off and twist 180degree refit them temporarily as I am a lefty until I collect my mind how to make couple of wa handles them.
Now question, will this work, I meant the fit will in line? I guess I just have to try it out myself but thought it won't hurt asking...
Also see attached pics, what's the notch on the handle for? Some sort of locking machism?

I believe these knives are pretty asymmetrical, so you may get steering, as a lefty, regardless of how the handles are.
