Hello everyone,

Today, I am excited to introduce the second new product from ZEN this month: the APEXULTRA knife. This particular sample was made for myself as a display piece to showcase the craftsmanship and design style you can expect from ZEN's APEXULTRA knives at this price point.

This product features a brushed blade surface, rounded and mirror-polished spine and choil, and a polished brass handle end. The combination of a mirror-polished blade base, spine, and polished brass is a design I personally enjoy, and I hope you will too.

For this product, I currently offer two designs: a 240mm blade with a 3mm spine leaning towards a laser style and a 5mm workhorse. I will provide the blade shape images for reference. The design is slightly widened compared to the knife I released last month, following a friend's advice that on KKF, any gyuto less than 50mm wide doesn't garner much interest. I decided to heed his advice.

Now, let's talk about the blade's specifications. The total blade length is 250mm, with an edge length of 233mm and a width of 53mm. The material is APEXULTRA, with a hardness of 65 HRC, hand-forged and , available in two specifications as shown in the images.

The price for this batch is $350, with a lead time of 25 to 35 days. The extreme heat lately has made it impossible to work in the forge, which affects the production timeline.

What are the rough weights of the 2 different versions?
Currently, the laser type sample weighs 220g, but the handle is slightly heavier than usual. I've recently made two workhorse knives, both of which have been sent to customers. I didn't take photos after measuring their weight, so I can't recall the exact weight. However, I have a few workhorse orders nearing completion. I'll measure one of those for you to get the weight.
