I had a bunch of stag crown handle pieces that came from the estate of knife maker Ted Dowell.
They were old and white and kind of boring looking. I believe they are Blacktail deer crowns. But that is a guess.
So.....I called Brad at K&G and asked what he thought about dying them amber and then stabilizing them.
He was up for giving it a try. They just arrived today. I really like the way they turned out.
I will be posting these in our web store this evening. They will be fairly cheap because they didn't cost me much and I had fun with the experiment. It will be fun to see how these get used.
I thought they would be cool on a retro style carving set.
