Greg Gola rehandled three knives of mine and he did a great job! The knives arrived yesterday:

From top to bottom:

  • Ashi Hamono 180 mm Ginga gyuto. Snakewood with buffalo horn ferrule and cow horn spacer.
  • Echizen Uchi-hamono (a.k.a. "Goko Hamono") 210 mm gyuto. Walnut burl with muskox horn ferrule and nickel silver/brass/black fiber spacers.
  • Ashi Hamono 240 mm Ginga sujihiki. Amboyna burl with muskox horn and cow horn spacers.

The last design is based on an earlier handle Greg did for Magnus.

I did some cutting with these knives this morning. They not only look very nice, but they feel great in the hand as well. Exactly the right size and nicely rounded (but not too much).

Very nice looking handles! Mark, how do you like the Ashi Hamono knives?

Very nice, indeed. They all look to balance very well with the blade, too.

So many talented people in our community!
