I so so so miss Jet's, despite their health code violation problems back in the day... (grew up + college in MI)

Turbo Crust!

I've only known about Jet's for a year or so. They're not the best Detroit-style in the area, but their prices have 'em near the top in the bang-for-the-buck category.

My best pizza is just a humble, cheap, well made pie near my apartment.

• Classic Brooklyn thin crust; bottom crispy enough to not flop when held; good cheese/crust/sauce ratio; nice charring on the upskirt.

• Location: this pizza spot is literally at the exit of my Brooklyn subway stop; deep enough into Brooklyn to filter out tourists/lazy foodies.

• Staff: mom at cash register, three brothers working the pizzas.

• No bells and whistles; no Bon Appétit/Time Out/Eater accolades, just a popular neighborhood pizza joint.

• $3 for a plain slice.
