Anybody know anything about them? USA made I assume. Dexter 489 clone. With Henckels/Western style finger guard. Looks like a 1950s/'60s style.

Probably a store/distributor/service brand.
The OEM makers would leave their brands off and knives would be house-branded. You see this with Russell, Dexter, and even some of the Sabatiers sold in the US (where there's only a a "France" and then an NYC department store name.) Bigger knife rental companies sometimes did this too.
That the "Columbia" brand is only stamped in the handle might support that Columbia is just the seller not the maker.
(But just consider this an educated guess--I don't have anything to back this up for the particular knife you're showing.)

BTW, this sold for $24.50 (+13.60S&H) so not quite $40 in the end.
Pretty nice score for a 50+ year-old knife in better than very good condition.

As your resident vintage Solingen knerd I've seen that that name barely a handful of times. Somebody really wanted that knife. Vintage carbon Solingen knives continue to increase in price as of late, just like everything else does...
