Apparently, the Italians (and along with them, everyone else) have been wasting lots of energy…

Italy’s pasta row: A scientist on how to cook spaghetti properly and save money
Interesting. There are a lot of methods that rely on heating then sitting undisturbed until finished. I’ve never tried it with pasta…..except with rice noodles …Like Prime Rib roast… 5 minutes a pound at 500 degrees then shut the oven off for 90 minutes….perfect. Hard boiled eggs too …..bring to boil turn off . Scrambled eggs. Lol, never thought about it saving money tho.

Surprised they didn't mention the efficiency gain from boiling the initial water in a water cooker.
But in general stovetop cooking is not where the vig expenditures/ savings are.

less water is the obvious saving in energy, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned that making FRESH pasta is a bigger energy saving since it cooks much faster than the dried varieties.

Good old elbow grease and all that, plus is tastes better too.
