Hey guys,

I bought a set of the Ken Onion Shun knives off an woot sale about 15 years ago. It was a major step up from the stuff rattling around in my parents kitchen drawers. I made attempts to sharpen them over the years but sometimes successfully, some times not so successfully. As a semiserious amateur cook I thought upping my sharpening game would be a good endeavor. Hours of web search led me to this forum and the book “An Edge in the Kitchen.” I read that and now I’m hooked. I’m excited to be apart of this community, and hoping to learn more, and upgrade my shun’s to a nice set of custom knives over the next few years. Thanks all!

Welcome and good for you to want to pursue sharpening. If you're open to it, the forum can also help you get a relatively inexpensive knife that will be sharpener friendly to help you learn.
