My nephew is in Kyoto with his wife on business and asked me for suggestions on where to look. From what I understand, Aritsugo in Nishiki Market is an easy if not best option along with Shigenaru. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ( I offered him one of mine but I think he wants to embrace experience )

I would suggest checking out Minamoto No Hisahide, he is a lovely guy to deal with and is in Nishiki

Shigeharu is a great maker and his shop is one of the oldest businesses (800 years if I remember correctly?) in Kyoto. His store is the front of his workshop. It'd definitely help to know some Japanese as he doesn't speak english, but still probably doable without. Plus, it's a good excuse to go see Nijō.
