Hi everyone!
Made few leather sayas for my knifes.
Adding some pictures and a question for those who have experience with VEG tan leather and studied the effects of the PH level in it on carbon knifes.
Thanks!!

That looks really nice 👌 I thought about leather sayas for my knives too.

Storing carbon knives in leather is....hm... It has to be really really dry and you should oil the blades. Some of my brass bolsters on my other knives get a green patina after a while and blades can get rusty or dark spots...

Thank you my friend,
I will try to oil the Saya with good amount of oil before storage and will give an update in about a month 👍🏻

You should oil the blade, not the saya ✌️
Leather care is good enough for leather. Especially after dying the leather, you should let it dry a few days or a week or so. The dye is pretty acidic.

I dyed it at the end of the process, so the inside of the saya is still “natural”.
I meant by oiling the inside (with Camilia oil) that the knife will be oiled from the saya every time It gets in and out.

New leather saya for Mazaki deba 150, 4 layers of leather on the back and 3 on the belly, tapered at the tip for nice fit.

When I make leather sayas for carbon blades. I put a thin layer of board butter (mineral oil and beeswax ) in the inside before glueing and stitching.
