Looks like someone in Japan was riffing off of the early Gerber knives? Marked with western script, anyone know who the maker was?

I'm looking at the Gerber "Pixie" field knife and the "Miming" steak knife in comparison. Not as close as I initially was thinking, these look more ergonomic/hand filling. Wonder what the steel is?

From several eBay advertisements, whoever made these sold them under various trade or distributor names, probably from 1950s through early 1960s. Back before "Made in Japan" had the connotations it now does.
