It was indeed quite shiny and cleaned up for a knife he wasn't using for so long. The edge was polished like crazy and very consistent.

I had to thin it a bit, it has been used a LOT and has lost some weight over the years, but thankfully I have a few of Dr. Naka's fingerstones on hand and got to choose which finish I like the best! Now it's got an Uchigomori finish on the face. The other cool thing about polishing this thing was that I got to experience hands-on the grind that Iizuka-san put on it.
