Just to be clear, while R2 and HAP40 are both PM steels, they're still different steels.

Yes, I know, that's why I was asking "What is the main difference between R2 and HAP40? Is HAP40 worth the premium?"...

Whoops, sorry, I should read more carefully during work (or not at all, I suppose).

R2 is very nice as far as stainless goes. There isn't much information here about direct experience with HAP40 though; there are only a few knives readily available in it.
