We had Japan come to Hawaii this weekend for Honolulu Festival. Covid we haven't had it for a while best fireworks show 3 barges offshore. As the sun sets the lanterns come out. Many Pacific cultures in parade in ethnic dress.
Nice has a nice harbor. The fish here is pretty delicious too!

Visited Marble on the way to Crystal Mill. Picturesque little town. Should have explored it further but we were scared of driving that mountain road in the dark. Was it nice? What can you do there?

Crystal Mill is (was?) the big attraction. Too, the very pure white marble used for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and parts of Lincoln Memorial is from the Marble quarry.
The previous owners of the grass strip used to host an annual fly-in camping weekend but I'm not sure if that still happens, parts of the camping area are visible in and around the trees in the shot below.
There's also a pretty good BBQ place in town (about a mile from the strip) which is the main reason we landed there that day.
Mostly it's just a beautiful valley and a neat place to visit by airplane.

It's surprisingly hard to take handheld pictures from a small plane given the turbulence, small cockpit and limited viewing angles.

The Eastern Brown Snake is more aggressive than the Western one, but you don't want to mess with either. Both are extremely venomous. The Eastern Brown Snake is the world's second-most venomous snake, after the Inland Taipan.

Serendipitously, when living in Denver for a few months in 1973, I found a reasonable facsimile of the Maroon Bells in the side passageway of our rental house…
Working near Yosemite this week so I snuck off for a day. The Old Gods reward playing hookie with absurd weather.
