Handles are fun!

I collect hobbies like my mom collects speeding tickets. My latest one is making wa handles. Never done any kind of woodworking before this so it's definitely been a learning experience. Having a great time so far. Figured I'd make a post to consolidate my handles so I can refer back to them easily.

First handle went on a white #2 santoku. Sent it to my dad for Christmas.

Finished the second one last week. Spalted tamarind with amboyna burl & g10 spacers. Put it on a cheapo $20 aliexpress suji. Going to my mom & her partner for Christmas.

And the third one last night. On a white #2 210mm gyuto. This one is Azfelia Xylay with g10 and nickel silver spacers. Off to my friend in Oklahoma.

Thank you! Each one is taking me a looong time right now. Starting to get the hang of things though. Need to grab better belts and band saw blades. Already burned through the ones I have.

Next one done! Amboyna burl with spalted tamarind/brass/nickel silver spacers. Easily my best fit and finish so far. Didn't accidentally oversize the tang slot, facets came out great.

Put it on my Pungchundo SLD. First handle I'm keeping for myself.

Pretty little rokkaku hanmaru style handle on my gesshin stainless petty. Wood is azfelia xylay with stacked birch bark ferrule and an amboyna burl cap. Birch bark gave me some trouble trying to glue/clamp it up. Love the result though!

That is beautiful! Such a nice warm, inviting tone. I have three blocks, 10, 14, 31. #31 is definitely one of my favorite blocks in the package.
