Just wanted to drop in and say a proper hello. I have been reading the forums for a few months now. I am a home cook and an avid fisherman and originally came here looking for an alternative to a flexible fillet knife.

The information on here has been great and I have just ordered my first proper knife. I chose a 210mm Toyama Noborikoi Kasumi Gyuto. I wanted to start with something carbon, neither too heavy nor too laserish, from a well regarded maker that wouldn't break the bank. I also wanted something that I could spend a lot of time using thus the gyuto. After a few month with this knife I hope to be able to pick out a higher end deba and yanagi without having to buy/sell/buy to find ones I really like. I am already seeing more knives in my future, thank you for all of the information!

Hey there! I grew up on a farm in Sask. Nice to have other flatlanders here.

Usually Walleye/Trout/Pike. I don't keep too many fish but try to make the most of what comes home with me.

Welcome Fellow Flatlander Canadian ! Which part of the province do you live in? I am living East of Regina close to the Manitoba Border.
