So as the title says; how do you store your stones when not in use?
I just keep the stones from light and a dry place. Is there a better way to store them?
Thanks :)

P.S sorry if this question has an obvious answer

i wish i could use a shelf for my stones, but space is limited and my wife thinks that little rabbits and stuff are more decorative. thats why my stones live in and beside this box under the bed.

As berko here.

Berko wow how much more stones do you have?

Mine are left out to dry then placed back in their boxes and stored in a cabinet

Mine live in a Tupperware box including the accessories, but I am considering permasoaking.

I keep my JNS stones soaking in the gastro pan I use for sharpening.

I think 'tray' would be the term? I am thinking of the standardised GN trays. I use one too (for sharpening - I put the JKI bridge on it)

I am fortunate to have lots of space in the pantry cupboards but I am starting to fill up a lot of space with my stones. I have about 14 to date and a nearly full plastic tub; the weight when I lift the thing is starting to get noticeable. If I added in the space used by my old Edge Pro and empty knife boxes (should I chuck these ?) it is considerable. Luckily my wife leaves the cooking to me and has no interest in the contents of kitchen / pantry cupboards !

Put shelf liner in a Tansu drawer keep stones in that. Usually have a couple on kitchen counter propped against the wall. At school perma soak in a funky pan like Berko posted that had been over heated. Two large stones fit perfect.

Be careful! I put mine away, back in the box not knowing that they were not fully dry. Returning to them couple months later and they were full, FULL of mold. Especially the 400/1000 grit stones, above 4000 there was nothing though. And after washing the mold off, and doing a quick lap the stones they are completely fine. But I had to toss all the boxes out. :(. -- now I store them open to the air at all times, because I don't really have the boxes any more haha.
