Have you tried one of these Cleavers Maxim? Been looking for a kuro ichi cleaver with a nicer than usual cleaver handle, this one is starting to get my attention.

I will be honest i am not big Cleaver guy my self 
I did try to cut with it and it chop and slice very good. I like the grind on that one too ! It is very thin behind the edge. For the test i sold one prototype to very picky cleaver guy (mainaman)
And he liked it a lot too. I think he can comment more
Ohh yeah when i went to Japan i did see many Cleavers. And i will say that one is my favored as it also have very good taper on the spine
