Climbed those stairs decades ago with a couple coworkers. Some idiots erected a swing at the summit in recent years. Tourist swing out over almost 2,000 foot drop & plaster it all over social media that's how officials found out.

It's known as Likeke. Look it up on Alltrails. Tailhead starts near Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens visitor center. We carpooled had some cars at end of hike. Drove back to Ho'omaluhia.which trail(s) did you hike up? Need to add this to my list
Alltrails has a map called Ho'omaluhia to Likeke Falls. It is important to have charged cellphones with GPS so you can monitor exactly where you are along the trail. People get lost & have to be rescued all the time in Hawaii. If I go to trails without the group it's because I know the trail. I didn't even know this trail existed advantage of being with experienced hiking leaders.

Highly recommend, it's been lovely so far. Reminds me of North Carolina a lot honestly. Almost everyone speaks English and there's some minerals in the water to give it that instagram-filter looking blue-green. Lots of swimming holes all around, though too cold for that right now.
Croatia used to be a Lonely Planet secret spot that just exploded. Good for them. How is the tourist crowd situation there?
Right now, there are very few people it's awesome but it's still a little chilly so the crowds a mellow.
We went to springhead of Slunjčica river today and didn't see a single person at this absurdly beautiful spot
