Well, with @tostadas, @cotedupy and @KasumiJLA posting such beautiful work lately, I'm hesitant to post my much less impressive work in progress. But, it's all about the trying and the learning. :)

Really happy with my shaping on this one. The best I've done so far. I did botch the tang slot a little as you'll see but it's okay.

Just a couple quick vids to hopefully inspire others. You don't need a shop full of power tools to give this a try.

This is me "De-handling Station". A.K.A. the kitchen oven. :p

Got the first full coat of Tru Oil on. I'll post when it is done. Or, if you don't see any more ont his handle, something went bad. 🤪

Nice work on those angles. Lookin good man! What wood combo is that?

And here it is all mounted up. My wife says it reminds her of an old map.

Teak burl and Walnut.

I know that last pic makes it look a little crooked but it isn't. It does have a very subtle twist but you really have to look to notice. And of course there's all the flaws I see but overall I'm happy with it.

I was asked about the pic I posted in the suji thread. This was a custom request to go with another member's suji by @MSicardCutlery. Simple design with stabilized two-tone shedua. It's a narrow mono handle with wider, flatter top and steep sides. Some tapering back to front. Beveled front with rounded kono-style butt.

Looks even better in person too 👀

A set of completely terrible handles I made in half an hour from a scrap of redwood fence. Drilled a giant hole down the middle to avoid need to file out a clean tang slot. These were intended to be temporarily handles to ship out for blade thinning. About 10-15g ea to skimp on shipping costs. Despite the lack of care in making them, extreme wabi sabi, they actually felt not terrible in hand.

Here's the finished set of skateboard deck custom handles on Blenheim Forge knives.

TBF - the most annoying part of this process was actually done for me by the customer, who's quite a handy woodworker himself (certainly moreso than I am!). Skateboard decks are both concave and wavy, and he cut this one into squares to the spec I requested, then planed and sanded them flat. From there my job wasn't actually that tricky.

These are the best looking skateboard deck handles I've seen yet

Ah cheers! First time I'd used skateboard material, though as I said - they were kinda given to me on a plate. The guy did a completely perfect job of cutting his old board up and flattening the pieces (the first three pics above are his work), so I just glued up the blanks, drilled, brass ferrules on, then shaped and finished 'em.

It's not necessarily my personal taste in handle aesthetics, but they certainly came out every bit as good as I was hoping, and the customer was pretty stoked. (He actually gave me considerably more money for the handle job than I quoted, which was very nice of him too).

It has been a while since I have posted projects up on here, but then again, it has been while since I have had a chance to work on anything. The restaurant business is booming!

I upgrded my Gihei 210 hap40 with a new handle and saya. Both the handle and saya are constructed from some beautifully figured walnut. I added a contrast of color with a spacer of purpleheart and g10. The handle is a crest shape, which I have found particularly comfortable to use.

I bought on of those Morihei AS bunkas that Strata put up a few months ago. REALLY fun little knife. It came with an outstanding edge. I have yet to have to sharpen it yet. I can see it staying in my collection, so I gave it a facelift. Big surprise, I used walnut for the saya. I really like working with it. The handle is made from stabilized maple burl. I had a couple of pieces of dyed sycamore that I used for a accents in both the handle and saya.

I cant take credit for the handle. That is Tony LaSuer's fine work, but I did try to match the color scheme with some maple burl of my own

Great news about business and gorgeous as always! 👍

I made my very first handle. It's sort of octagonal, at least that's what I was going for. I have no idea what kind of wood it is. I shaped in a belt sander, finished it with 320 grit sandpaper with some mineral oil, soaked in more mineral oil, and rubbed in some board butter. Popped it on a Munetoshi 240 I got recently on BST (shout out to @simona ). Cheers!
(EDIT: I think I tracked down what kind of wood it is: Garapa)

Hey guys, how are you, I have never made a handle or saya, although always wanted to. I live in a apartment most of the year and have no space here to actually do it! I have a friend, a pro, that usually makes my handles! I was wondering if I could share those in here, the handles from my knives, he makes some awesome handles, I just love his work haha
