Holy machining batman!

Wow. Totally amazing, but also kinda sad that through engineering we continue to ad distance between humans and actually making things.

I was never a great machinist, but I loved the smell
of cutting fluid and metal shavings and I have huge respect for the old-school master machinist, and it makes me kinda sad to think that the ones who are still around are will probably be the last of their kind.

Not as cool as the Cptn' Hook model, but still pretty cool:

It is amazing to think that possibly within our lifetime (I don't know how old you are) that they may get to the point where amputation is an upgrade! Something that is just amazing...

I'm not so sure about that. I was visiting Anewco in town and they are always looking for manual machinists. The CNC stuff is really big and continually growing, but it's only used for stuff in high volume. It's much more economical to have someone manually machine a part if there are only 5 to be made or so.

I find this guy creates pretty awesome stuff.
For example Leona's Blade

Thought this was good. He touches on a lot of points that people often ask when beginning sharpening.

Jon needs to get himself a little 3-wheeled truck and drive his water stones around LA - actually one these would be more appropriate. LOL!

Don you always post the most insane stuff. This blew my mind. Cutting threads, and machining to a press-fit all BY HAND? ***?!?! Also, I don't know if it was just omitted via editing, but I never saw him actually measure with anything other than the corresponding work pieces: no calipers or even a ruler or simple template.
Badass lvl : ultimate.

Seriously Justin, I about pooped my pants when I saw him do those threads.

Here is another machining one. So quiet a machine, yet such heavy passes.
