    Ghee?

Dave I use Ghee when doing steaks in a pan. I make my own from 1 pound of unsalted butter. It isn't hard to do as I've listed the steps below, though it doesn't take a bit of time but makes the kitchen smell like buttered popcorn. The dog and cats love the foam by the way. How to Make Ghee...

    crossbow question

I have a couple of Gamo pellet guns. One is .177 the other 22 and they are much stronger hitting that the Crossman CO2 types. I've actually taken out a couple of coons and a opossum with mine.

Question for the Hunters out there

Thanks Dave that is what I had been told also hence the selection of knives I made. Never thought of using the ceramic rod though as I deburred with the felt blocks I got from you. The fit great in my bag. Oh and for those that are curious and don't know much about a 45-70 Government it was...

Question for the Hunters out there

Thanks Rick and didn't know what the 1520T on the blade stood for since it doesn't say stainless or anything else other than US made below the Schrade on mine. I paid $13.90 from walmart and also picked up the Schrade gut hook knife as well as a bone saw. Both knives where the same price but the...

Question for the Hunters out there

Ok, I wasn't sure where to post this as I'm getting into hunting after 40 years from my last deer taken. At that time my brother field cleaned it and I finished the butchering at home myself. Well I plan on doing some deer hunting this year and have a skinning knife made by Schrade called the...

Media Fish n Poi - The Original Rehandle King

I have all of the Fish handled knives I bought except two. One I bought to help the original owner out, hoping he would get out of the bind he was in but not to be. I did sell it though to someone that really lusted over it and still loves it. The other was the last knife Fish ever re-handled an...

Colour Case Hardening- Old school Gun HT

I have 3 guns that are case hardened the old way and some with chemical methods (modern way). They don't rust easily however the metal gets pretty hard and is almost impossible to engrave after it is done with standard engraving tools. Now I bought a 12 ga shot shell holder for a reloading press...

A good hunting knife that will also skin.

I actually went over to my neighbor Walmart and picked up the Schrade sharpfinger by old timer for $15. I also have a 13" blade Kentucky Bowie and a 10" standard Bowie also made by Schrade. They all hold a edge pretty good. So figured for the price I will give it a try especially after reading...

A good hunting knife that will also skin.

OK I posted here because not sure this would be a kitchen knife more a per-kitchen knife or butcher knife. I will be hunting in Washington State later this year with my son which has deer, bear, elk and moose and will need a good hunting knife as I've not hunted since the early 80's. I bought a...

    Woman's self defense courses?

As a long time karate instructor that also taught women's self defense it does work for them. I also suggest getting a gun permit and good training for that as well. Man or woman makes no difference we should all have the ability to defend ourselves when and if the need arises. I have found the...

    Cast Iron Cookware

It is funny but a brand I've not seen in this thread is Wagner. Now I have several different CI pots and pans with some old and some new. My favorite cooking pan is a Wagner 12" fry pan period. It is a perfectly balance handle design so when lifting it there seems no urge to let it tilt. I've...

    Organic foods?

Most of the grocery stores I buy from here such as Kroger's and Whole Foods sell organic which I do buy. Food is the one thing I insist on being of great quality and don't skimp on.
