Poll: Are high end knives = high end cookware?

I've got Demeyre Atlantis, Mauviel m'cooks and carbon steel (m'steel), Staub for dutch oven, lodge cast iron, baumalu copper in the lineup, no full sets as I've just collected these over time. I like pretty cookware... I realize the irony of saying this next statement while having all...

Need help/opinions on recommendations for knives to buy.

since you linked to the Ryky Yoshikane might as well go with the one for K&S for 50 bucks less. https://www.knivesandstones.com.au/collections/yoshikane/products/k-s-amekiri-%E9%9B%A8%E5%88%87-white-2-nashiji-stainless-glad-gyuto Only big problem is that now you don't get the Ryky logo :(

    Questions on Damascus

99% sure Miyabi & Shun are not "printing" the damascus and the cladding is indeed layered. I would think the only "printed" damascus you're going to get are the cheap knives from China. You're likely correct in that majority of makers aren't making their own but are using pre-laminated billets...

    Hasegawa SD polyethylene colored

Hmmm should I be the guinea pig and see if I just end up with a regular poly board wrapped around a wood core for 75 bucks ha

3D-Printed sink bridge, Anything i should add?

Very helpful for many I'm sure! 3D printers are so useful... if I didn't live in a 550 sqft apartment I'd get one (still might). Sorry to be dense, but just so I'm clear, the parts made by the 3D printer would be the bolt and pieces in black and the silver/gray piece would be something bought...

Anryu AS 210/240 Gyuto In Stock at CKTG

Right, but that's not quite an analogous situation. One can re-brand a steel (ie Zwilling FC61) but I don't think you can market a steel under another companies branded product name even if it is identical in makeup, that would false advertising/fraud no? A more analogous scenario would be...

Isn’t AS a trademarked name from hitachi? I would think they wouldn’t be able to market a knife as AS if it’s not hitachi (unless it was made in China in which case I figure anything goes lol)

Adding a petty to the collection

When I use citrus the knife contact is pretty brief. Just making a quick slice to squeeze onto seafood or guacamole, so hasn’t bothered me much. I use a paring knife for fruit and citrus typically. I think the general consensus is to go SS steel if cutting lots of citrus. takamura r2 petty is...

    Hasegawa SD polyethylene colored

https://www.monotaro.sg/g/01081314/ anybody know anything about these Hasegawa boards? Described as wood core with polyethylene and they have white tops with colored sides. The model name is either SD or Karugaru can’t really tell. I’ve seen them as cheap as 75 bucks for a 600x300. Can’t find...

Adding a petty to the collection

Went with the Tanaka b2 Damascus petty 150mm from honcho was 109 shipped. Promptly made a balsa wood saya. Will probably burn the handle. I had heard Tanaka had poor f&f but great grinds and HT. F&F seems good on this knife. Nice taper on the handle, no step between handle and ferrule, and...

    MTC 20% Sale

Yes but the brown board is made of harder (not hard) material. More stain resistant and can take a bit more abusive cutting (relatively, still can't abuse it) but not as nice on the edge. The above is per Barclid who works at MTC
