    ebony handle and saya maintenance

I am seeking advice for the above. Does anyone has any experience maintaining ebony handle and saya? The knives have seen some heavy usage but I know how to sharpen and maintain the blades well. The handle and saya, on the other hand, have seen only soap, water and dry towel as and when...

Atoma 140, Beston 500 and Suehiro Rika 500

Thanks to forum member who recommended the Beston 500 and Suehiro Rika 5000. The stones came through the mail a few days ago and I have used them in one or two sharpening sessions. The Beston 500 feels relatively smooth for a coarse stone and with great feedback. The size, though, is...

    1,200 Mizuyama sharpening stone

Anyone uses this medium stone for sharpening? I don't think I ever hear it mentioned here before. It is a really nice medium stone - nice amount of slurry, resist dishing and good feedback. I also realized why Atoma 400 cannot be used as a coarse stone ... it wears out after 7 to 8...

Which coarse stone would you recommend

Recently, I am convinced that a coarse grid stone should make it to my sharpening set up. I bought a Atoma 400 grit diamond plate intended to be a flattening plate for my 1,200 and 6,000 grit water stones. It works wonderfully well to flatten my water stones quickly. In addition, I have...
