imo weld tang and round tip is usually not a great thing for a cleaver.

our friends at isamitsu are really heading in to a great direction!

I have both and Isamitsu blue super is better, it's more durable and takes as keen of an edge if not more. I would say it's most likely due to production being more consistent with isamitsu.

what a beauty! Gaku's grinding is gotten even better since they started - I think they are a complete package now functional and grind wise.

both white 1 and blue super from Isamitsu is top notch, both get blazing sharp and edge retention is very good. The only difference from my experience is the edge retention bit, it is slightly longer for blue super and the edge appears to be more stable for extreme edge geometry.
